Update!

Well I've pretty much updated the other two blogs so last, but not least this one!

Sadly I have torn my ACL again and have to have reconstruction surgery. As of right now it is tentatively scheduled for two weeks from today. So if things go as planned I should be back to being able to walk the dogs and hopefully run/jog a bit by this summer. Still no strenuous stuff like soccer or a lot of agility, but it'll be ok so long as I can still walk and hang out with the pups. So this will be my second ACL re-constructive surgery which sucks, because the likelihood that I re-tear one of my ACL's again is higher so gotta be a bit careful not to let it happen again. Other than that life is good. Had my first physical thearpy session today after my surgery consult and it was actually good to be back with my physical thearpist. I love the craziness that goes on there and it was a pretty fun time. It'll continue to be fun until after I have surgery and start doing the hard stuff again...

Right now the pups are both doing great. Abby and I are getting a tad more involved in agility and hopefully after all this is settled we;ll get to finally sign up for some classes!Bo's also doing pretty well. He had his first agility session (can find the video on his blog) the other day and did great. He did however get a bit hyper and jumped to soon, slammed into the hurdle, crashed and landed smack on his face. Poor thing... but of course the crazy butt jumped up and continued burning around the yard like nothing ever happened. So I'd say he was perfectly fine!

With Bo I am also kicking it into gear and working on his leash reactivity and fear issues. AFter a long debate I finally decided to purchase a Prong collar to assist in the training with the hopes of eventually no longer needing it. Right now it is serving as a self correcting device as it should be. He pulls or tries to lunge it delivers the uneven neck pressure and he stops and I praise for good reactions towards other dogs. So far so good. I know that this tool used improperly can do sever damage, but unlike a halti it won't damage his neck when he lunges so I found it to be the better option. We've walked past the dog park a few times and worked around a few dogs and not much of a reaction which is a good thing. I'll continue to update on his training as we progress...

I also have some good news. We've got a puppy on the way! Well hopefully. I've been contacting an Australian Shepherd breeder that I fell in love with and as of now I am tentatively planning on getting a puppy from her fall breeding. I have yet to go visit as we had to cancel because one of her bitches went into labor. So depending on how my surgery and recovery goes and if I am physically and mentally prepared for a puppy I will go ahead and get one from this litter so long as it produces a pup who will fit my needs as far as being a good working partner which I'm sure it will so yay for puppy!
